In a trans allegory, director Jane Schoenbrun tells the story of Owen (Justice Smith), a teenager just trying to make it through life in the suburbs. When his classmate Maddy (Jack Haven) introduces him to a mysterious TV show, a vision of a supernatural world beneath their own, Owen’s view of reality begins to crack.
Content Warning: This movie deals heavily with existential crises. This film screening is a part of the UMD Libraries' “Library of the Macabre: Researching Horror in Popular Culture” programming for October's Scholarship as Conversation series.
